At Wellness and Esthetics, Dr. Batcheller uses Platelet Rich Fibrin (abbreviated PRF) in Regenerative Medicine and Esthetics. PRF injections are wonderful for bringing vitality and healing into joints, skin, and other tissues. The latest and greatest procedure for creating the most potent PRF is by using a horizontal centrifuge. In this video clip, Dr. Giselle Batcheller discusses how PRF is changing the wellness and esthetics industries.
Platelet-Rich Fibrin is abbreviated "PRF". PRF is created --without anything added-- simply by spinning an individual's blood according to researched protocols. PRF contains your body's own growth factors, healing factors, white blood cells, and a small percentage of stem cells. The applications for PRF are vast.
What is better? What is the difference? Dr. Giselle Batcheller of Park City's Wellness and Esthetics + CARE Esthetics Utah discusses.
Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF) is a technology that uses your body's own natural and powerful healing proteins and concentrated growth factors found within blood to rejuvenate skin, treat hair loss, and speed recovery. With a simple blood draw, a concentration of natural growth factors in your own blood can be collected and used to stimulate and treat your skin. The protocols established to produce platelet rich fibrin in its most concentrated format (C-PRF) were actually developed by lead researchers at CARE Esthetics.
Following the various spin cycles, PRF injections and microneedling may then be utilized to infuse cells of the skin, joints, and hair follicles with regenerative growth factors and cells that stimulate, repair, and rejuvenate damaged areas within the body. Since no additives are used, it forms a "super" blood clot with significantly elevated concentrations of regenerative cells and growth factors capable of stimulating healing.
"In all things of nature there is something of the marvelous."
-Aristotle
You may have heard of Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP), a first generation platelet concentrate discovered in the late 1990's. One of the downsides of this product was that additional use of the anti-coagulants (chemical additives) prevents clotting and thereby diminishes the full potential benefits of platelet concentrates. PRF is a more recently discovered, more advanced technology that requires no additives. Recent studies in the 2010's to present have shown that PRF is up to 3 times more effective than its previous PRP formulations.
